METALESA, heading towards international success

On the occasion of the first Opportunities for internationalisation meeting organised by Cajamar and El Mundo, César Valero, Deputy Director at METALESA, gave an interview along with directors from other companies of the Valencian Community. They contributed their outlook and experience on the keys, challenges and risks of internationalisation to a company.

Among other ideas, the experts commented that the circumstances may be more favourable or less so depending on the country in which you want to expand, and that the market and legal contexts should be studied in detail. César Valero stressed the importance of hiring people that enable the organisation to compete in a more demanding environment. He also pointed out that the company’s size is not the only determining factor in internationalisation, but did recognise that in sectors such as public works it is a great help to be more competitive.

The interview highlighted the progressive growth of METALESA in France and its countries of influence, which requires great strides in self-discipline to provide a quality service.

Other topics discussed were the importance of seeking expert advice on the target market, opening up to foreign partners and the financial muscle to undertake a process that may take time to produce results. Read the interesting interview about international success in full.

Awards ceremony for the 1st METALESA Awards for the best Final Degree Project in the UPV’s School of Civil Engineering.

During Engineering Week of the UPV’s School of Civil Engineering (SICMA 2018), METALESA held an event on Wednesday 28 February to announce the winners of the 1st METALESA Awards for the best Final Degree Project.

This initiative is part of the Metalesa Talent Platform, which arose from our company’s commitment to promoting endeavour and talent amongst new generations of engineers.

The jury, composed of several of the School’s lecturers and members of METALESA, valued the excellence of two works that stood out for the originality of their approach and the rigour of their execution. The first prize went to Adrián Santes Genovés for his “Study of solutions for the location and design of a space to practice longboard in the province of Castellón” and he was awarded €1,200. Second prize went to Manuel Buitrago Moreno who was awarded €600 for his analysis of “Maritime terminals and logistics chains for liquefied natural gas (LNG). Assessment of future needs in Spain”. Both the School and the company appreciated the enthusiasm of all participants and the quality of the work presented.

The event was attended by Mr Antonio Sánchez, a Civil Engineer, and Director of the company ESMOVibilidad, who spoke about his vision and experience on a topic that is ever more at the forefront in big infrastructure construction projects in our country, “Road safety audits in preliminary and project phases. Experiences of implementation in Spain”.

METALESA hope these awards will run annually with new editions that continue to unearth students’ talent and offer them a real experience of the civil works sector.

Carretera-Pobla-del-Duc

The opening of the Pobla del Duc relief road avoids dangerous routes

METALESA has contributed to improving the safety of the new road that runs parallel to the current CV-611 through the municipal areas of Benigànim, Quatretonda and La Pobla del Duc.

The company took part in this project reconciling one of its main objectives: improving road traffic safety by installing 420m of META13 metal parapets (H2 containment level, a great option among metal parapets), on two bridges of similar characteristics on the Torrella and Forcall ravines with total lengths of 110 and 100 metres respectively. This solved the problem of accessibility and functionality and at the same time provided a greater level of comfort, avoiding dangerous bends for drivers, improving plan and elevation, and reducing travel time.Metal parapets at METALESA

Another goal was to increase the cross section of the road bed, which facilitates vehicle traffic, and improves the bearing capacity of the road, to achieve a more comfortable journey. It also sought to improve signalling and beacons, longitudinal and transverse drainage infrastructure and its integration into the landscape of the environment.

The work covered the section of 3,179 metres from the existing roundabout on the outskirts of the centre of Benigànim, at PK 4+250, to the roundabout that intersects the CV-611 of the railway station road.

The road has two lanes, one for each direction, a width of 3.5 metres, 1.5 metre hard shoulders on both sides, berms of 0.5 metres and traditional or safety ditches on the side of the clearing.

Keep an eye on our blog to keep up to date with all METALESA’s projects and breakthroughs.

METALESA installs 3km of META16 parapet on viaducts on the A-23

In June 2018, METALESA completed the installation of its META16 parapet with H3 containment level on all the viaducts of the Caldearena-Lanave section of the A-23 between Huesca and Sabiñánigo. In this section, the parapet is concentrated on several overpasses and some landmark viaducts such as Fontanal and the river Guarga.

This project considerable improves road safety as it is a split before the fork of the motorway to bypass the port of Monrepós. Its design also preserves a space of great ecological value in line with the Ministry of Development’s environmental study.
